Governors Are Not Determinants of Presidential Victory in Nigeria|| Kazeem Alimi By Kazeem Alimi The notion that having a majority of State Governors automatically guarantees presidential victory is not only politically simplistic, but historically incorrect. Nigeria’s electoral history has consistently shown that the will of the people supersedes political structures when it truly matters.  A clear example is the 2015 presidential election.  At that time, 22 sitting Governors openly endorsed and campaigned for the re-election of former President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan of the PDP. Yet, despite this overwhelming gubernatorial support, he lost to General Muhammadu Buhari of the APC by over 2.5 million votes.
