A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress and Renewed Hope Ambassador for Egbeda Local Government Area of Oyo State, Hon. Biliaminu Ogundele has called Nigerians to embrace love, and unity for continued peaceful co-existence.
The respected politician made the call at a Xmas Event organized by the Egbeda Chairman of the All Progressives Congress held at Oluwo-Egbeda on Friday.
The event which gathered various leaders and members of the party, including respected support group, Avant Garde was an avenue for love exchanges and political networking.
Speaking, Hon. Ogundele noted that it is high time Nigerians jettisoned religiosity as this will help to address social vices including corruption, kidnapping, among others.
He said God is only one, adding that religion should not serve a platform for killings, banditry, kidnappings, rather being for unification and supporting each other in every capacity.
" God is only one. We do not have two Gods, even though we have diverse ways by which we are reaching him. I am a Muslim, this my brother in celebration is a Christian. I am here with him to celebrate with him, indicating that we are one, because our creator as well is one. So we should all allow love to prevail in whatever we are doing. Religious discrimination. Fanaticism, banditry, or any form of discrimination under the pretext of faith, or religion is not only inimical to human existence but criminal. We should see ourselves as one", he said.
Ogundele credited the prevailing love within the All Progressives Congress despite emergence of aspirations among the members, which he said will not divide the party.
" APC Umbrella is one. By the time candidate emerge, you will not hear anything like faction or emerging supports for aspirants again. You will only hear of support groups. APC is one", he boasted.
Reacting to Oyo APC Youths booeing of Hon. Saheed Akinade Fijabi, a two-term federal lawmaker and appointed chairman of Oyo State @50 Celebration by PDP administration led by Seyi Makinde, Ogundele pulled weight behind such a disposition.
He said Fijabi made a mistake by romancing the ruling party in Oyo State, owing to alleged disunity at the eve of the 2023 General Elections within the All Progressives Congress, this he said eventuated such a public disgrace by the Oyo APC Youths at its recent Summit held at Civic Centre, Idi-Ape, Ibadan, though with no evidence of official defection to the People's Democratic Party.
" Then, for the APC Youths to have revolted, they are right. You know when some people are working for the good of an organization, and perhaps others are dormant, or passive, they may not be reactionary. But where they see some people who are attempting to relate with other side, insinuation will be coming", he concluded.
Meanwhile, the APC chieftain urged Nigerians,.particularly members and leaders of the party to make every effort to orientate their respective community of the danger of religiosity, calling for total love, unity, loyalty and patriotism as exemplified by Jesus Christ whose birth is celebrated over the last two thousand years ago.
