Prominent political analysts, Dr. Tunde Amusat and Hon. Taiwo Ibrahim, have cautioned politicians against attempting to reduce Nigeria to a one-party system, warning that such efforts will fail.
The analysts made these remarks at a seminar organized by THE VOLUNTEERS, a socio-political organization, in Ibadan on Saturday.
Dr. Amusat noted that attempts to impose a one-party system under military rule failed, noting that it will not succeed under civilian administration.
In his reaction, Hon. Taiwo Ibrahim, highlighted ten dangers inherent in using money to induce people at elections, including the best candidate not emerging, values being thrown overboard, and politics becoming an investment rather than service.
Meanwhile, the analysts called on opposition parties to form a coalition to rescue democracy in the country, urging the politicians to focus on providing logistics support rather than inducing voters with money.
