The Oyo State Government has approved the procurement of two aircraft to enhance security in the state, particularly in the vast interland areas. This move is aimed at curbing the menace of illegal miners, kidnappers, and other security threats.

The two light aircraft, DA 42 MNG model, are Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR) aircraft equipped with sophisticated surveillance gadgets.

They are capable of identifying targets from high and low altitudes. The aircraft were chosen over helicopters due to their lower maintenance costs, accessible spare parts, and synergy with the Nigeria Air Force, which also possesses the same model.

The two aircraft, procured at a cost of ₦7,763,360,000, will effectively support Amotekun and other security forces in the state to prevent and destroy bandits in their hideouts.

According to the Commissioner for Information, Prince Dotun Oyelade, Amotekun in Oyo State has the highest number of staff, vehicles, and motorcycles among the South West Security Networks.

The Executive Council also approved several other projects, including:

- Construction of bridges and interchanges
- Clearance of the Northeast and Southwest segment of the 110km Rashidi Ladoja Circular Road project
- Asphaltic improvement of several roads
- Reconstruction of road networks
- Commencement of direct intervention in operations and maintenance of the Light-up Oyo Solar Project

The Oyo State Government has reiterated its commitment to securing the state and improving infrastructure. The government assured that 72km of the Circular road would be completed by 2027.
