The Zonal Director (South West) and Curator, National Museum of Unity, Aleshinloye, Ibadan, Mrs Oriyomi Pamela Otuka has called for consistency as basis for tourism improvement in Nigeria, particularly, Oyo State.

The call came while addressing the newsmen at the concluded 2nd International Tourism Summit held at University of Ibadan, on Thursday.

She maintained that the sector thrives as needed infrastructural facilities are provided with needed synergy with wealthy individuals and concerned stakeholders which enable total involvement and upholding of such countries' histories, cultures, sculptures, foods, heritage and legacies from one generation to another.

While lauding improvement of tourism programmes and policies under the administration of Governor Seyi Makinde over the last two years, Mrs Oriyomi Otuka reiterated the need for consistency for an enviable development.

" No gainsaying that the present administration has improved the tourism sector in Oyo State, even giving rise to facelifting some arts and tourism centres through public private partnership arrangement, to include Idere Hills, Iyake Hills, Cultural Centre, Bower's Tower, among others.  It is laudable. Yet, there must be a plan for successive government to action the plan on revolutionizing the sector which will increase job creation, relaxation, cultural education and revenue generation, with more improved infrastructural development", she said.

The NCMC Zonal Director (South West) applauded the vast contribution of the Oyo State Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Dr. Wasiu Olatunbosun, which has greatly revolutionized the tourism sector.

Despite the ministry of Culture and Tourism has been directedly moved under the office of the governor of Oyo State for supervision, Mrs Otuka has called both the state and federal government in Nigeria, particularly Oyo State to sincerely give an improved enabling environment for the tourism sector through which skills, arts, crafts, revenue generation, and job creation will be enhanced.
