The Chairman, Trade Union Congress, Oyo State Council, Comrade Bosun Olabiyi-Agoro, has described the Commissioner for Information, Prince Dotun Oyelade as a true encylopaedia of knowledge, culture and history.

This came while addressing newsmen at the book launch titled "Know Oyo State" held at the Emeritus Theophilus Ogunlesi Hall, University College Hospital Ibadan, on Wednesday.

According to Olabiyi-Agoro, the author of the book, who is the present Commissioner for Information in Oyo State, Prince Dotun Oyelade, obtained an unprecedented grace from God, adding that such a grace is rare and only remains available to the anointed on Earth.

"It is a laudable one. As one of us, who is the current Commissioner for Information in the current cabinet to actually come up with this initiative despite official performance, I think it is highly commendable."

"The initiative will help to showcase Oyo State, and to make sure Oyo State is known for things  documented. Because history is actually whoever is writing it. If you don't write your own history, another person will help you to write it."

The labour leader noted that the authorship will  greatly enable the protection of culture, economies and history of Oyo State to the next generations.

"History is whoever writes it, and if you leave your history undocumented, another person will write and may not suit you", he added.

Comrade Olabiyi believed that commitment, dedication, focus and resilience factored the successful creation of the eleven chapter book.

"So, let us just thank God for giving Prince Dotun Oyelade, the initiative to sit down,  dedicate his time towards documenting the time, season, history and economy of Oyo State."

The Petroleum stakeholder urged the author never to rest on his oars in delivering more of his creativity towards moving Oyo State forward, saying he has set every government appointee, worker, and citizen on his toes towards affecting the society to more greater heights in various capacity.

Earlier, the governor of Oyo State, Seyi Makinde while pledging a sum of 10 million naira to the launch of ten copies of the book, recommended it for official display at the Samuel Ladoke Akintola International Airport to enhance tourism attraction, with commitment to supporting intellectualism among his cabinet members.

Meanwhile, former Nigeria's Minister of Education and Ambassador to United States of America, Professor Tunde Adeniran, who lauded the book's coverage, advocated for a sooner review of the book as to accommodate more detailed information about the state.

Reacting, the author and Commissioner for Information, Prince Dotun Oyelade, appreciated late Joop Berkhout, the founder of Safari Books,  for supporting his intention over thirteen years ago, noting that the need to document history was a factor behind the initiative.

Present included Former Governor of Old Oyo State, Oladayo Popoola, Deputy govenor of Oyo State, Barrister Bayo Lawal, Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Hakeem Owoade, Soun of Ogbomosho, Oba Ghandi Laoye, Comrade Kayode Martins led-Nigeria Labour Congress, Oyo State Chapter, government functionaries, among others.
