The third edition of the Journalist Olawale Ogunbusola School Competition & Awards will hold on Thursday, November 7, 2024, at the National Museum of Unity, Aleshinloye, Ibadan, with over 150 attendees expected.

Organized annually by respected broadcast journalist with Prince 89.7FM, Oyo Governor's Correspondent Olawale and author, Ogunbusola, FEIPA, the event aims to evaluate young children's cognitive development through quiz competitions in English, Mathematics, Current Affairs, and General Knowledge, as well as educational lectures and awards for outstanding personalities.

Ten schools have been approved by Oyo State Government through the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, Secretariat, Agodi Ibadan to attend. 

The participating schools include Divine Favor International School,Celica, New Ife Road, Ibadan, Prime College, Ibadan, St. Patrick's School, Bashorun, St. Gabriel Commercial School, Mokola, Onireke High School, Onireke, Ibadan, Bishop Onabanjo School, Ashi-Bodija, Ibadan, Mount Olivet High School, Bodija, Queen of Apostle, Oluyoro, Ibadan, Celestial High School, Oke Ado, Oluyole High School, Oluyole Extension, Ibadan, Ratibi College, Ibadan. 

The Event will open with the quiz competition at 8am in the morning for the strictly invited school candidates, one from JSS 3 and the other from SS 2 ranged 12 and 14 years respectively, while from 10 am the official event opens to the general public including the invited guests, mediums and sponsors.

The anchors of the competition event are Head of News, Solutions 93.9FM, Oladapo Okunnubi "Young Striker"; Head of Programmes, Olusina Olabode "Omoyashina"; and Registrar, Eccolerite Institute for Peace Advancement, Dr. Omotayo Adegunju.

This year's event features two Oyo State Governor's aides: Executive Assistant on Security, Rtd CP Sunday Odukoya, who will deliver a lecture titled "Towards Improving Schools Security in Oyo State," and Reverend Dr. Femi Ibikunle, who will serve as the official chairman.

Other speakers include  Ptofessor of Urban Planning and Environmental Planning, LeadCity, University, Ibadan, Professor Grace Oloukoi, FNITP, who will deliver the keynote lecture "Adjustments to Climate Changes," Assistant Chief Nursing Officer/Director, Oyiza Orphanage Home, Mrs.Taiwo Joy, who will speak on "Effects of Teenage Pregnancy in Any Society." and CEO, Afriwomen Entreneurship Initiative, Mrs Adebukola Oso, LLM (U.K.), PGDipSP&C (Open U.K.), DipMD SAE U.K., LLB, will speak on "Building a Sustainable Future: The Role of Entrepreneurial Education in Nigerian Secondary Schools." 

Special guests include Deputy Majority Leader, Hon. Samson Olawale Babalola; Chief Whip, Hon. Gbenga Oyekola; Deputy Chief Whip, Hon. Yusuf Oladeni Adebisi; Chairman, Oyo State Trade Union Congress, Comrade Bosun Olabiyi-Agoro, Egbeda Liaison Officer to Oyo Central Senator, Yunus Akande, Hon. Taoreed Akande, CEO,Prince 89.7FM, Barrister Dr. Babatunde Balogun, CEO, Young Artist ArtHub, UK-Nigeria, Mrs. Olaide Moyet-Turner; Curator, National Museum of Unity, Aleshinloye, Ibadan, Mrs. Oriyomi Pamela Otuka; CEO, Bright Lens Media Network & Iseya TV, Mrs. Ayodeni Aluko; and TVC News Camera Reporter, Mr. Adewale Ojedokun, Public Health Columnist, Miriam Ike Nwaneka.

The event which will hold from 8 am to 1 pm, will feature honourable gifts, certificates of participation presentation to the best three students from both JSS 3 and SS2, and awards presentation to nearly twenty (20) most merited personalities in the society.

Meanwhile, the organizers urge for co-operation and supports from the participating schools and stakeholders for a better outing.
