The Oyo State Commissioner for Lands, Housing, and Urban Development, Akin-Funmilayo Williams, has urged media reporters to prioritize quality reportage for a healthy democracy in Nigeria. 

He made the call during an unscheduled visit to the State House Correspondents,Press Center, Office of the Governor, Secretariat, Agodi, Ibadan, on Monday.

The retired former permanent secretary , Ministry of Lands, Housing and Urban Development, Oyo State, Akin-Funmilayo expressed his delight and optimism in the performance of the state House correspondents, attributing the successes of the Seyi Makinde-led administration to quality reportage. 

He noted that it was his first time visiting the State House Correspondents' office in his 35 years of working with the state government.
The Commissioner emphasized that the successes of the present administration were due to proper, quality, and quantitative reporting, which promptly feeds the public against misinformation and misrepresentation of the Seyi Makinde-led government.

Akin-Funmilayo called for a mutual relationship between the House correspondents and every appointee, ministry, department, and agency (MDA) in Oyo State for more enviable performance. He praised Governor Seyi Makinde for starting "brilliantly well" since 2019, moving the state from poverty to prosperity.

He pledged to extend his experience to other persons and urged the correspondents to cooperate with the Seyi Makinde-led administration until 2027 and beyond through sound and quality reportage for more progress and socio-economic development.

In their brief remarks, Christian and Muslim Cleric- journalists, Pastor Timothy Adeogodiran and Alhaji Olalekan Sulaiman, prayed for divine support, wisdom, knowledge, and understanding for the Commissioner and other appointees of Governor Seyi Makinde.

Speaking on behalf of the Governor's Resident Correspondents, David Bello, appreciated the commissioner for recognizing the importance of the media and respectfully paying an unscheduled official visit to the State House Correspondents.

 He noted that the visit was a signal of importance to the Seyi Makinde-led administration and would serve as a morale booster for more performance beyond imagination.
