Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State has announced that the new Local Government Service Commission complex will be commissioned on Wednesday, October 2nd.
This is coming after a formal inspection of the complex, which included facilities such as a conference room, various offices, and a staff training centre.
Makinde expressed his delight at finally seeing new buildings within the state Secretariat, a goal he had had since 2019, emphasizing that his administration will continue to prioritize workers' development to enhance productivity and bring good news to local government workers and leaders as Nigeria celebrates its 64th Independence.
Makinde noted that the commissioning was initially delayed due to the January 16 Bodija Explosion, but remedial work has been completed, and once commissioned, the complex will promote local government workers' development and support the recently passed local government autonomy in Nigeria.
This development aligns with the state's efforts to enhance its local government service commission, as outlined in Section 78, Cap 66 of the Local Government Laws . The new complex will provide an ultra-modern secretariat and office complex for the Local Government Service Commission and Local Government Staff Pension Board .
