Makinde presents Staff and instrument of office to first Elempe of Tapaland, Oba Titiloye Oyekanmi Sunday

Oyo State governor, Seyi Makinde has installed and presented staff and instrument of office to the first monarch in Tapaland, His Royal Majesty, oba Titiloye Oyekanmi Sunday.

 The coronation ceremony held at Community High School, Tapa, an area of Ibarapa North of Oyo State.

Governor Seyi Makinde, who was represented by his deputy, Bayo Lawal while presenting the staff and instrument of office to Oba Titiloye Oyekanmi Sunday,  congratulated the newly installed monarch, called the indigene to give a wholesome support to him for a worthwhile development in the town.

Makinde urged the new monarch to ensure that land grabbing, illegal mining, kidnapping, and other forms of illegal activities that can breed insecurities at dealt with for peace and protection of lives and property.

In his acceptance speech, the  Elempe of Tapaland, His Royal Majesty, Oba Titiloye Oyekanmi Sunday, who is the 12th Baale, before elevation as first monarch in Tapaland, appreciated the Seyi Makinde led administration, noted that his crowning would serve a bridge between the indigenes and the government which through this unprecedented achievement could be recorded in the town.

The newly crowned monarch added that he had allocated land for sitting of zonal office of the Amotekun Corps as to further heighten security against criminal activities including banditry, theft and kidnapping.

Earlier, the commissioner for Local government and chieftaincy matters, Hon. Ademola Ojo called for unity and co-operation among the indigenes of Tapaland as its first monarch received the staff and instrument of office.

Present at the event included the speaker of the Oyo state House of Assembly and Chairman, Nigeria Conference of Speakers, Rt. Adebo Ogundoyin,Ibarapa federal lawmaker, Anthony Adeniyi "Ibarapakan", chief judge of the state, Iyabo Yerima,  Oyo lawmakers, Oyo State Elders Council,  traditional rulers, Tapaland indigenes, among others.
