BREAKING: Senate moves to establish Local Government Electoral Commission

The Bill titled, “Local Government Independent Electoral Commission (Establishment) Bill, 2024” was sponsored by the Chairman, Senate Committee on Finance, Senator Sani Musa, (APC – Niger East).
Meanwhile, Hon. Kunle Olatunji, a Special Assistant on Media and Publicity to distinguished senator Representing Oyo Central senatorial District, Yunus Akintunde, has suggested the creation of a central electoral commission for a transparent electioneering process in the country while featuring on Wednesday on Prince FM's midweek show "The Entrepreneur in Nigeria Polity", anchors by Olawale Ogunbusola, adding that the recently Supreme Court on Local government autonomy will enable all round development in the country.
Olatunji called for popular participation in the election exercise of this country.
The politician said that voter apathy by most Nigerians has resulted into emergence of bad leaders in the country.
Hon. Kunle Olatunji, while reeling out challenges against the good electoral system if the country, including poor logistics, poor road networks and communication and lack of political wills, still believes there is yearly improvement in the system.
The politician called President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to fully mechanize every means to fund voter education, re-orientation, as to repose confidence in the electoral system of the country in Nigeria ahead of the 2027 General Elections.
