Avoid favouritism in distributing federal government grains to Oyo State- Makinde warns local government chairmen

Oyo State government has warned local government administrators against favouritism while distributing the allocated 42,000 metric tonnes of grains received from the Federal government led by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

 The warning came during the symbolic presentation of assorted commodities from the National Strategic Reserve to vulnerable Persons in Oyo State held at the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters' Car Park, Secretariat, Agodi, Ibadan, on Monday.

The governor of the state Seyi Makinde,represented by his deputy, Barrister Bayo Lawal who appreciated the Bola Ahmed Administration ,said the presentation came to being through collaborative effort of the government of the state, which necessitated movement funding of the grains.

The governor stated that his administration would continue to mechanize measures against insecurity, calling for fuller co-operation of the public, traditional leaders, religious leaders and local council bosses against banditry, illegal mining, and other elements.

He insisted that eering local administrators against the official template of target beneficiary persons would be decisively dealt with.

In his remarks, director general of National Emergency Management Agency, Mrs Zubaina Umar, who was represented by zonal director, NEMA, Mr Stephen Adewale said the 42,000 metric tonnes of grains to the state through the federal ministry of Agriculture must include twenty percent to the religious bodies, 3 percent to the boarding schools, journalists, police, state base organizations, Red Cross, persons with disability, through the local government constituted authorities, stating that the grains for the state are maize and garri, respectively.

Earlier, the Algon Chairman, Sikiru Oyedele, represented by Ogbomosho South Local Government chairman, Timothy Oyedokun assured of due distribution in fear of God and honour to the target people.

Meanwhile, Oba Okere -Saki of Saki, Oba Khalid Olabisi, on behalf of the traditional leaders, called government at all levels to mechanize adequate security at the agragrian zones of the state to encourage mechanized farming.

Present at the event included former deputy governor, Hazeem Gbolarumi, Oyo lawmakers, commissioners, Local Government Chairmen, traditional leaders, religious leaders, and other government functionaries.
